Customer Review: Awesome device
This little gadget is amazing. The thing that i like the most about it is its size. Very practical and whole lot of memory….
Customer Review: a good idea
This is a great idea. I considered it to be a great way to back up my system and files while shifting computers. It was only partially successful because it is not compatible with Mac 9 and only sporadically compatible with Mac OS X. Buy Here

WD RE2 500GB SATA/300 7200RPM 16MB Hard Drive

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

WD RE 7200 RPM hard drives are engineered to thrive in a high duty cycle RAID system while still offering traditional low cost-per-capacity desktop value. Designed and manufactured to server-class standards, WD RE drives provide RAID-specific, time-limited error recovery (TLER) to significantly reduce drive fallout caused by extended drive error-recovery processes and are tested to 1 million hours MTBF.
Customer Review: Great Drive
Mine was a refurbished item. Works great though. Not much more I can say. I’ve always been very pleased with Western Digital hard drives. This particular line won’t work with some VIA chipsets too well, but you can get a SATA PCI card for $20 that’ll fix that problem.
Customer Review: Plug and Play, All The Way!
I feel really happy with this new Western Digital 500GB drive! I had to change my order from another drive due to the SATA II design required for my MacPro. The excellent vendor, Mega Micro Devices Inc., gave personal attention to my request for the right drive. I received the drive in two days! I opened my computer, unpacked the drive, slid it into the open bay, closed up and powered up. Less than 15 minutes! I partitioned and formatted the drive, loaded a huge collection of photos. Done! I ran a check on the disk and found no laws or errors. Buy Here

Cavalry Storage CAUM Series 250 GB USB External Hard Drive (Black) CAUM37250-B

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Backing up your important files has never been easier! The CAUM Series external hard drive features the Cavalry One Touch Backup button, which allows the user to configure, with the included software, which directories to back up automatically at the touch of a button.

The CAUM boasts exceptional heat dissipation without a fan for near-silent operation. It is also remarkably durable, with state-of-the art shock absorption. The stylish enclosure features an illuminated face and is constructed of solid aluminum, keeping the hard drive operating at a safe and cool temperature while protecting the data within. Its stackable design ensures a clean and uncluttered workplace.
Customer Review: Sturdy, reliable, and simple to use.
I took a chance on this external hard drive and I got it for my boyfriend, whose HP Laptop had crashed on him last month and he almost had a heart attack. This was very easy to use and easy to copy files from the computer to the hard drive. It’s also very easy to open files from the hard drive while it’s plugged into the computer. It’s much easier to use than my Western Digital Passport hard drive. Only thing is that the packaging from the manufacturer didn’t look all that professional, so that made me concerned. But the product itself is a sure thing. Buy Here

Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB 10,000 RPM 16MB Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Some hard drive companies design desktop-class drives with the Serial ATA (SATA) interface. To meet the demands of enterprise storage, WD is going one better. Western Digital is the only company combining an enterprise-class mechanical platform with the SATA interface to meet all the demands of the enterprise environment - reliability, performance, and reduced cost.
Customer Review: Raptors going the way of the dinosaur?
I’ve been reading lately about solid state disc(SSD) drives making their way to the consumer market. With no moving parts they would be much more quite then the drives we use now, are super fast, but they also cost their weight in gold. A 32GB SanDisk SSD drive will run you over a grand! Until those prices drop I’ll stick with a hard disc drive, thank you very much! :D

As far as the Raptor goes I couldn’t be happier with its performance. The price isn’t bad and the read/write times are impressive. Right now I’m only running one of these but in the near future plan on running a dual boot system and using two of these for the OS’s and essential programs. My 2x TB drives will hold all my movies and other media.(Hi-Def media really eats up the HD space quickly, I still remember when a Gig was a ton of space!)

One of Vistas touted features is ReadyBoost or using a jump drive, but when you have a Raptor theres no need. I saw no noticeable improvement in access times when using ReadyBoost, the 4GB Corsair Voyager GT actually seemed slower than when using the Raptor.

While the Raptors are far from silent(Samsungs Spinpoint drives are very quiet!) I wouldn’t say they are loud. My Liteon DVD drive is much noisier then my Raptor so I have no complaints. I’m hoping in the future WD releases larger than 150GB drives so I can just use them in place of 7200RPM drives, time will tell. While the price premium of a 10kRPM drive wont appeal to everyone, I think the small increase is worth it to enthusiasts looking to squeeze every last bit of performance out of their setup. Recommended!
Customer Review: +Fast drive+all black,sleak…-bit noisy…-pricy-,only sata-150
I have 2 of these in RAID-0, they literally saturate the sata-1 bus @ 150mbps. Would of been better if these drives support SATA-II at the time they were released…Can get rather noisy in a quiet environment (sounds like some slugs in a plasticbox being shaked) when heavily accessed..but atleast the audible frequencies are in the lower spectrum and doesn’t have the high pitch sound that comes from my 15,000 rpm SCSI Seagate Cheetah, which is much slower than this although made since 2000. Don’t go for the raptor-X infront of this one, as that one has a lower MTBF, is more audible (due to the special cover), and is entirely more expensive, unless that’s what you want ofcourse. They are otherwise, identical in performance. Buy Here
